Review: Trendsetters 2012
Hello,
To all you lovely peeps all around the world.
I have been slightly on the slow radar these days as I admit I have been posting my draft items :p Past few weeks has been so hectic, i had my first fashion show in such a rush ( which will be on my next post), had big event and guests to attend to at work and "me"with severe tonsils...it was bad!
I have been slightly on the slow radar these days as I admit I have been posting my draft items :p Past few weeks has been so hectic, i had my first fashion show in such a rush ( which will be on my next post), had big event and guests to attend to at work and "me"with severe tonsils...it was bad!
Anyways, it is September, the fav month for all the fashionistas. Btw seeing all the pictures of my favorite bloggers blogging abt New york, London and Paris fashion weeks.I somehow got inspired to do a post on Nepal fashion to give you guys a little closure about my city and the fashion scenario outhere.
So on 31st of August, I attended the trendsetters fashion show where all the top notch designers of Nepal showcased their collections and here goes my extensive views--->
Tenzin Tseten Bhutia- Beige and the beautiful.
Tenzin Tseten Bhutia- Beige and the beautiful.
Tenzin tseten bhutia creations was one of the marvelous one. The collection was named "keti" which means a young lady in our nepelese language. It was very cohesive as he played with the same color palette so beautifully well. All the models looked super feminine and the highlight of the show was his shows topper Jharana bajracharya, a renowned actress of Nepal who looked like a million dollar babes in a sexy white saree with silver detailings. The fact is I had never really attended Tenzin bhutia's fashion show before but after personally seeing the collection , I know now why he is called one of the most talented and creative designer of all.
@house of fashion is a newly established and first fashion house in Nepal which promotes both art and fashion. Their ideas are fresh, unique and out of the box. The people behind @HOF are Devashish Yonzon, Saurav Shrestha, photographer Suyesh Shrestha and their in- house designer Nuzat Qazi who displayed a unique, colorful and vibrant designs on the runway which frankly speaking were not wearable but one could imagine the hardwork put into it. It was quirky, different and very avant garde. Something noone has tried before on a Nepal fashion runway. The showstopper for the night was their own brand ambassador and former Miss Nepal, Sadikchya Shrestha who looked beautiful in a long dress which was finished off with curtain wires. Very artsy indeed!
Nearly two years ago in 2010, a fashion house had created a buzz. This year I got the chance to attend their fashion show. The people behind HAA are designer Nilima maden, former miss Nepal Malvika subba and Manish pandit. The things I loved about the collection were the strong empowering theme, wearable clothes (ready to wear designs which included both feminine and androgynous looks) and Offcourse Malvika subba who looked gorgeous in a minimal sheer cut off dress. Personally I think Malvikka subba is the perfect example of modern ideal Nepalese woman and the theme was exactly that, about all the independent women of today.Overall it was a great show.
Subexya bhadel is an upcoming popular designer and my personal favorite. Her designs are always cohesive, classy and chic. For the trendsetters, she played with the color "black" with a lot of sensuality and élan. All the models looked like dark angels on the runway. The fit and the cut was perfectly executed. The showstopper was Priyanka Karki, a young talented actress of Nepal who looked magnificient. I particularly loved her ramp walk. Overall It was a sleek, elegant and sexy collection.
Astik designs is the perfect example of how beauty lies in the details. His designs are simple, elegant and sophisticated. As a designer it is very important to know when to stop 'going over board with your designs and Astik sherchan knows exactly that. I admire how he achieves great style with minimal, modern and sleek ideas.I loved all the dresses that he showcased on the runway specially the pink one.
Gabi is the first lifestyle brand which has been creating a sensation with their youthful and funky designs. Designer Bina ghale used the key trends which were young, edgy and even fashionably sporty such as the amazing shoes.I specially loved the jackets which were hand painted by artist Vijay Maharjan. Who says RTW fashion can't meet art. Gabi truly knows how to combine art with ready to wear designs.I hope to see more amazing organic designs from them in the coming days.
Oodani boutique- Traditional Beauty
Oodani boutique, a successfully running boutique in kupondole, kathmandu showcased various traditional attires such as lehengas and sarees in beautiful shades with heavy embroideries. The collection was rich, elaborate and luxurious. If u have to attend a wedding or some traditional functions you definitely know where to shop.
LOVE & LUCK
